Die Teilzeitquote stagniert bei 46 Prozent. Die Zahl der Lehrbeauftragten ist an öffentlichen Hochschulen zwischen 2007 und 2022 um fast 50 Prozent auf rund 88.000 gestiegen. An privaten Hochschulen hat sich ihre Zahl sogar mehr als vervierfacht. Das deutet darauf hin, dass Lehrbeauftrage oftmals Aufgaben übernehmen, die eigentlich durch hauptberuflich Beschäftigte in der Lehre zu erbringen wären. The working reality of academic staff remains precarious. Eighty-two percent are still employed on fixed-term contracts - almost unchanged from 2018. The part-time rate is stagnating at 46 percent. The number of lecturers at public universities rose by almost 50 percent to around 88,000 between 2007 and 2022. At private universities, their number has even more than quadrupled. This indicates that lecturers often take on tasks that should actually be performed by full-time teaching staff.
